They are tales, they are philosophical and they come from all over the world. They are Zen or Sufi, Chinese or Judaic, Indian or African. They are also European, American, contemporary. Funny, serious, or both at the same time. They are, at times, ambiguous, disconcerting and even unsettling. They resemble us. Jean-Claude Carrière, over more than twenty-five years of work, collected, wrote, and organized them as if they were a manual of philosophy.
