Thyde Monnier was born in 1887 in Marseille. Daughter of a banker, she began writing poems, short stories, and plays at a very young age. She gained fame in 1937 when she published the first volume of the novel trilogy 'Petites destinées': La Rue courte, which received the Prix Cazes. Thyde Monnier is the author of several novel cycles - Les Desmichels, Pierre Pacaud, Les Franches Montagnes - as well as a biographical account, Moi.
