Magnificent antique Jewish prayer book (Siddour / Sidour), a beautiful collectible or devotional item. The hard cover in gilded metal (probably patinated brass or bronze) is richly adorned and engraved. On the front cover, the Hebrew inscription « מזכרת ירושלים » (Souvenir of Jerusalem) is found. The back cover is decorated with the Tables of the Law surmounted by a silver filigree crown, inlaid with small turquoise beads (note: one turquoise stone is missing in the upper right corner, see photos). The interior contains the traditional prayers printed in Hebrew with vowels (Nikud). The edges of the pages are original. The item has a very beautiful patina of time that confirms its authenticity. Condition: Good general condition for its age. Wear from use on the metal, natural patina. Note the lack of one of the four decorative turquoise stones on the back. Clean interior, solid binding.
