Signed raku style blue and green studio vase – 30 cm

Stunning large cylindrical ceramic studio vase, made from highly textured black to gray clay, probably grogged. The piece alternates wide panels of cobalt blue and emerald green enamel with bands of raw, deeply striated black clay left. The enamels show a beautiful crackle effect and many shades, giving the vase a mineral and almost volcanic look. A particularly original handmade creation, in a brutalist and Japanese-inspired spirit, probably made using a technique close to contemporary raku. The interior is made from the same textured, unglazed black clay. Incised signature under the base, difficult to read, possibly reading 'Goëls'. Unidentified ceramist. Since the interior is not glazed, the watertightness has not been tested. It can be used as a decorative vase or with an inner container. A very beautiful character piece, ideal in a contemporary, brutalist, wabi-sabi or Japanese-inspired decor. Very good general condition. Some small traces of use and irregularities in material or glazing related to handmade manufacturing. The network of cracks visible in the enamel contributes to the look of the piece.
